  • Visiting the SSCV Thialf
    28-01-2010
On the 22nd of January, Robin Jansen joined Young PIANC Netherlands for a tour around Heerema Marine Contractor's SSCV Thialf. Visiting this huge "vessel" is spectacular. The size is breathtaking and the lifting capacity of over 14,000 metric tonnes is very hard to grasp. It was also nice to see Yokohama pneumatic fenders and Tideland Signal ML-155 and ML-300 marine lanterns installed at one of the decks. I'd like to thank HMC and Young PIANC for this splendid opportunity.
  • Another batch of fenders supplied to a navy force
    28-01-2010
Due to the vulnerable hull, most navy vessels are fendered with foam elastomer fenders. Compared to rubber fender systems, foam elastomer fender offer a very favourable performance curve, minimizing hull pressure especially during the first stages of compression. As a result, Hippo Marine supplies rather a lot of foam elastomer fenders to navy forces around the world. P.C. Jansen Marine Agencies is also very active with naval forces, and was able to be awarded to supply 10 small onboard fenders.

  • Increased interest in casted foam elastomer lightweight fenders
    09-11-2009
Over the last 12-18 months we have seen a significant increase in the interest for Hippo's lightweight foam elastomer fenders. This has resulted in a number of orders for newbuild fast crafts, like pilot boats, water taxi's and ferries. More detailed photographs to be revealed at a later stage, but the following page will give you an indication of the type of fenders concerned: Vessel Fendering
  • Floating fenders remain popular, even during economic crisis
    09-11-2009
Despite the ongoing financial and economic crisis, the requirement for floating fenders has not decreased. We are happy to inform you, that we have been able to secure order for several foam filled Hippo fenders, as well as original Yokohama pneumatic fenders through FenderCare.

The foam fenders are becoming more and more popular especially for short sea shipping vessels. Yokohama pneumatic fenders are - of course - the preferred option for any large offshore vessel, whether that be FPSO's, heavy lifting vessels or oil tankers.
  • Seaway Heavy Lifting AtoN's kit upgraded
    09-11-2009
In cooperation with P.C. Jansen Marine Agencies, Tideland Signal's subsidiary Dabbrook, has recently upgraded the Aids to Navigation kit aboard the Stanislav Yudin. The Yudin is the first heavy lifting vessel of Seaway Heavy Lifting and will soon be joined by the newbuild Oleg Strashnov.
A new GDF Suez North Sea based gas platform, installed by SHL, required temporary marking untill installation of the top structure. The existing AtoN kit of the Yudin, consisting of an ML-300 marine lantern, an AB-560 fog signal and a lot of batteries, required an upgrade and general maintenance. We have supplied and installed a Sentry Fog Detector, to allow the fog signal to be switched on automatically whenever visibility drops below 2 n.m. Furthermore, we replaced the batteries and lamps in the ML-300 with new ones. After cleaning the lens, and a full system check witnessed by engineers of SHL and GDF Suez, the system was installed on the offshore structure.
